WHO are we?
Techies by day… We are Nini and Bonita! We’re both product manager working in the San Francisco Bay Area. Nini loves working with some of the smartest people in the world delighting customers and making sure the internet functions, literally. Bonita is passionate about bringing the next product to life to help creators get recognized for the value they create. Yet work is not everything.
Trekkies and Foodies all other times. Collectively, we have traveled to over 30 countries with each other, friends, family, or solo. Each time we visit a new place, we learn more about its people, culture, and way of life. We also learn more about ourselves in the process. We can’t wait to share with you the fun, excitement, and freedom of exploring the world. Oh right, for our favorite meals, ramen tofu soup for Bonita and a lobster roll for Nini, please!
Life as cups of water. We think of life as cups of water sometimes full and sometimes not, and each cup represents family, career, travel, food, and more. As life changes, cups fill, spill, and empty. If water overflows a cup, it’s time to step back and fill another cup less full. We believe this process is the key to a fulfilling life. We’re excited to share our journey with you.
Enjoy!

OUR MOJO
The content of Stepping Away will strive to achieve the following principles:
- Authenticity. Our content, including our posts and images, will represent experiences that we’ve, well, personally experienced! If we have secondhand experience, we will say so. If we borrowed an image from someone else, we’ll credit them.
- Insightful. For each journey to be valuable, we believe in conducting some introspection — a dialogue with our inner self of what we took away or how a place changed our perspectives. For those insights we find, we will write.
- Short and sweet. You should be able to read our posts within a few minutes. C’mon folks this is not the New Yorker!
